The Illinois Association of Museums is an agent for positive change in the museum community – providing advocacy, promoting best practices, and fostering the exchange of ideas.
Vision Statement
The Illinois Association of Museums will be the recognized voice of, and a valued resource for, the state’s diverse museum community.
Affiliations
IAM is an independent museum network. The Illinois Historic Preservation Agency supports the work of the IAM. IAM has no other official or permanent ties to other organizations.
The Illinois Association of Museums supports the work of the American Association of Museums, the Association of Midwest Museums, the standing professional committees of each of those organizations. IAM also supports the work of the American Association for State and Local History. IAM supports the work of local museum networks and seeks to work collaboratively with all of those organizations.
